Polish citizenship - FOREIGNER

The procedure of conferral of Polish citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland may be resorted to in cases where a foreigner does not meet the requirement for obtaining Polish citizenship under the Law on Polish Citizenship. The President is not constrained in his/her decision in any way; in other words, the decision is not contingent on the applicant’s fulfilment of any conditions in order to be granted Polish citizenship. The President is authorized to grant Polish citizenship to any foreigner, regardless, for example, of the duration of their residence in Poland.

Recognition: a foreigner may be recognized as a Polish citizen if they have met certain conditions. The application to recognize a foreign national as as Polish citizen should be submitted to a provincial governor.
